The entry of Syrian refugees in US has been banned by President Donald Trump till further notice. Wide-ranging executive orders have been signed by Donald Trump and it included suspension of refugee admission for four months.
Six Muslim countries have received ban on entry of visitors to US for a period of three months. The move has been condemned by some high profile figures and human rights group.

Ever since the Express Entry system was introduced for the first time, there has been a rise in the number of candidates that are being sent the Invitation to Apply (ITA). The number of invitations sent has crossed the 3,000 mark for the first time in the draw held on January 11.
A total of 3,334 candidates were sent the ITAs and the comprehensive ranking system (CRS) points had gone down to 459 – the lowest ever in the past one year.

Immigration, refugees and citizenship Canada (IRCC) has come out with a new form known as ‘Interest to Sponsor’ in the famous Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP). This form has been made available on January 3rd and will be there till February 2nd, 2017.
By applying for this program, permanent residents and citizens of Canada can sponsor their grandparents and parents to become the permanent residents of Canada. In the previous month, it was announced by IRCC that it will remove the first-come, first-served system from PGP and bring in the invitation based system for the applications that will be submitted in 2017.
